Woollahra Council: What your candidates said

Woollahra Council, home to some of the richest postcodes in Australia, serves about 54,000 residents.

With 15 councillors, the council is currently led by Richard Shields, the man who was blamed for the Liberal Party’s nomination fiasco.

Voters also face a constitutional referendum to reduce the number of councillors from 15 to nine.

The Sydney Morning Herald sent questions to each of the 36 candidates up for election at Woollahra Council about why they are running and what they want to accomplish if they are elected. Of those, 22 responded.

Their responses have been lightly edited for clarity.
