Ku-ring-gai Council: What your candidates said

The centre of local government opposition to the state government’s housing policy, Ku-ring-gai Council has been dominated by Liberal-aligned independents.

The north shore council is divided into five two-member wards, and its current mayor is Liberal-aligned independent Sam Ngai.

The Sydney Morning Herald sent questions to each of the 50 candidates up for election at Ku-ring-gai Council about why they are running and what they want to accomplish if they are elected. Of those, 23 responded.

Their responses have been lightly edited for clarity.

We asked candidates where they stood on key policy issues they’re likely to vote on while in office, and what they thought about the current state of council services. Click the below buttons to see the results.
