Penrith Council: What your candidates said

Towards the western edge of the city, Penrith City Council is a growing home to development and density.

Six Liberals currently hold the most seats on council, with four Labor, four independents, and one vacant seat.

It is led by Labor mayor Todd Carney.

Residents of east ward do not need to vote on Saturday: the Liberals’ failure to nominate candidates means the five Labor candidates are elected.

The Sydney Morning Herald sent questions to each of the 45 candidates up for election at Penrith City Council about why they are running and what they want to accomplish if they are elected. Of those, five responded.

Their responses have been lightly edited for clarity.
