City of Ryde Council: What your candidates said

The City of Ryde has three wards that make up the council area in Sydney’s northern suburbs. Voters on Saturday will also directly elect the mayor for the first time.

It is currently led by Liberal mayor Trenton Brown.

The Sydney Morning Herald sent questions to each of the 52 candidates up for election at the City of Ryde Council about why they are running and what they want to accomplish if they are elected. Of those, 24 responded.

Their responses have been lightly edited for clarity.

We asked candidates where they stood on key policy issues they’re likely to vote on while in office, and what they thought about the current state of council services. Click the below buttons to see the results.
