On the far-western edge of Sydney, Blue Mountains residents will vote for the councillors they want for the next four years.
Blue Mountains City Council has four wards, with voters in each ward selecting three councillors. The current council has a Labor majority, led by mayor Mark Greenhill.
The council has emerged as a key opponent to the Minns government’s housing policy, with councillors taking out full-page newspaper advertisements against the government’s transport-oriented development program.
The Sydney Morning Herald sent questions to each of the 28 candidates up for election at Blue Mountains City Council about why they are running and what they want to accomplish if they are elected. Of those, four responded.
Candidates’ responses have been lightly edited for clarity.
